The MOSSY PARK PilgrImage
by Peter Sharp
Quick Overview of Project
31 days of living and connecting more meaningfully with the people of Mosman Park.
How does it work?
I meet a fellow resident of Mosman Park who is interested in connecting more meaningfully and we establish scope of stay. This can range from sharing a cup of tea to a maximum of 2 nights stay.
No night ever assumed, all nights of stay communicated.
During my stay I explore ways of being valuable whilst learning about things you and I care about.
I say yes to adventure when it naturally arises.
I create a short story of the experience via podcast, video, written or photo. Nothing gets posted without your permission.
We say goodbye, I return to public space to meet and connect with the next generous person from Mosman Park.
A little about me & Why I'm Doing This
Having spent a number of years growing up in Mosman Park and the surrounding suburbs, I always wondered about the beautiful diversity of people who lived right next to me. Growing up in a multi-cultural home I've always seen great value in exploring the world while learning from other perspectives.
I was fortunate enough to have studied abroad in The Netherlands and lived in Barcelona for a couple years, both experiences have been pivital in discovering the value diverse perspectives bring.
Since coming back I've enjoyed staying curious and attempting to see the world with fresh eyes. As I was walking down the Coles aisle I thought to myself, I reckon there is an olympian in this building, potentially a mother of eight who's survived a war and a student studying to become a brain surgeon yet I've never dared to actually find out.
I wondered why I'd fantasied about going on a great pilgrimage like the Camino De Santiago without recognising that much of that same sense of adventure could be found in our own backyard. I thought wouldn't it be fascinating if we could somehow unlock an experience that lead to a wonderful life adventure in the most unexpected of places.
The intention behind this project is to highlight that some of the most incredible people could be our neighbours.
Peter Sharp
Founder of The Liberators
I'm a Perth born explorer and social entrepreneur, I run a small revolutionary festival of human connection with friends called Bliss Festival in Donnybrook once a year. When I'm not gearing up for that I'm passionate about creating events for people who love to dance and connect more meaningfully. I run a youtube channel exploring acts of kindess called The Liberators and am endlessly passionate about sharing tangible examples of how everyday citizens have a valuable role in creating a kinder, friendlier and more human future.

I got invited to share some of my stories creating examples of kindness at the Perth Concert Hall. I've since gone on to speaking around Australia sharing reflective and insightful contemplation on the power of human connection across Australia.

Peter is one of those special people who sparks joy anywhere he goes. What I hope he gets out of this is one of lifes most important lessons - “the ability to find joy in the most unexpected places”.
I love the stories of the people that you pass every day and this pilgrimage explores the value and diversity of how everyone finds their sense of belonging in such a diverse neighbourhood. Peter is very brave for doing this, and I feel that this type of project might just change a person forever (in a good way).
What he’s doing, comes with my greatest endorsement and also my greatest sense of kindness to everyone around him to look after him.

"Peter is unique - as we all are. Peter's quest to explore human connection is a lifetime endeavour that creates opportunities for us all. He places himself in situations that are simple in nature but the fruit is rich. His humanistic curiosity takes him and others to places that we never contemplated. I wish him well in his trail blazing pilgrimage through Mosman Park. Those who happen to become part of his July journey are blessed indeed".

Peter is one of the most delightful, honest, sincere and caring people I have ever had the pleasure to get to know. His latest project sounds amazing. I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone who is thinking of letting him into their lives to embrace the opportunity with open arms. You will learn from the experience and will grow as a person. I assure you.
RUles of the adventure
Permission to leave at any time, zero questions asked
If at any time I wish to leave the experience or you wish me to leave the experience you or I can communicate this and this will be respected 100% with zero questions asked.
I can't use my car outside of Mosman Park unless
I am not allowed to drive my car outside of Mosman Park unless I'm creating acts of kindness in public or Liberator events which will continue at the same time. The next public Liberator event is planned for the 6th of July and can be viewed here.
No staying at a person's home who I already know.
The intent of this project is to connect more meaningfully with people I have no prior connection with. I have friends in Mosman Park, though that's not the purpose of this experience.

Part of the intention behind this trip is to learn and share stories, experiences and insights from the people I meet. With your consent I will be sharing stories on social media and youtube.
